Hello, I'm a moderator on a website named Kongregate, and in the past few days, have had someone on our site mass spamming a referral code using a lot of multiple accounts in doing so. So I decided to make a post here to have the staff here put an end to the referral code account if possible for mass spamming our site with it. The referral code in question is: www.avabur.com/?ref=23725

Hi there Shiku. I'm not staff, just a user. I appreciate your level-headedness compared to the other guy from Kong who is being offensive and spamming our forum as a means of rebellion. I hate that you're getting spammed, and know that it reflects poorly on the community, but most of us are good people.
I do have a point of concern with your request though. Referral codes aren't private, clearly. If there was someone that I didn't like, I could go out and spam their referral code and get them punished. There's no guarantee that the person doing the spamming and the person whose code it is are actually the same. To punish them would be presuming them guilty, which doesn't feel great to me.
When I first heard about it, I assumed it was only one account spamming and thought they should just be muted by moderators. But if it's multiple different accounts, perhaps Kong should just issue an IP ban? To be honest, referrals aren't valuable enough to go to the lengths that this spammer is going to. As a member of the community, I want to help our reputation however we can. But assuming that the person with that reflink is the culprit feels dangerous.

How about implementing a chat filter to disallow any message containing the URL? Kongregate's a fairly large scale operation, I'm sure they would have tools in place for someone to be able to do that.

well said, winterphoenix.
There isn't much we can do in this situation, dear moderator from Kongegrate. I would heed advice in the responses above.

I am also not an Avabur mod, but, I feel like you might also consider making things like ref links mutable/banable in the EULA. Not that anyone actually reads those. but it would serve as a basis for disciplinary action.
You friendly Kong/Avabur user
Stealin
side note I have also posted ref links in Kong chat rooms. but I hardly spam them. point is some link posts might be a legitimate "Hey I like this game and some of you here, you should try this one" post.
